COURSE DESCRIPTION

Certificate I in EAL (Access) outcomes focus on the development of English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills directly related to immediate personal and social needs together with electives selected to develop relevant social, settlement and numeracy skills and knowledge. The purpose of this qualification is preparation for participation in further English language study or vocational training which may include English language support or employment.

Training Pathway

The courses contained in the EAL Framework are aligned to ISLPR and IELTS levels as a guide to placement in courses. (EAL Framework, Appendix D, section B: Course Information). For this qualification the preferred entry requirements are:

Without this evidence the entry point for this course will be determined by an assessment of the student’s skills using the Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing competencies within the EAL framework to guide the placement process in order to place student in the level appropriate to their proficiency in the English Language.

Employment Pathway

Completing a Certificate I in EAL (Access) qualification provides a pathway for a student to enrol in a Certificate II in EAL (Access) at Institute or at another RTO.
